Pastor Tim has experience
On June 30, 2005 a dramatic transformation came over his life. While on a church mission trip he was brought from the depths of alcoholism and drug addiction to a new “clean and sober” life.
For several weeks he enjoyed the new life but he didn’t even realize that the urges to drink and “act out” were gone. Charlotte asked him on day what was wrong with him and only then did he realize that he had given up the old lifestyle.
One morning in late July he found himself face down in the floor. With a dazed look on his face he raised his head up and just mumbled, “huh?” At that moment he heard the voice of God, “We did this for you, go and do it for others.”Then the same phrase but in a more stern tone. “I said, We did this for you, go and do it for others.’
So began Tim’s journey to work with the addicted. He attended The Sure Foundation and Theological Institute and received his degree in Ministerial Studies and he received his license as a Pastor. He has several ordinations in Pastoral Ministry and Missions.
Tim and Charlotte attended Saddleback Church in California and were trained in Celebrate Recovery 12 steps. They have taught Celebrate Recovery at several churches and half-way houses. They now teach in the TDCJ prison system. One on one counseling is another way that they reach out.
After eleven years many things have changed, Tim teaches that there is only one “Higher Power,” Jesus Christ. The Apostle John called Him the Word of God.
John 1:1-5 (NLT) 1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
Until you accept Jesus as your “Higher Power” you will always be in recovery. AA says that you will never recover from alcoholism that the disease is always there. “Once an alcoholic always an alcoholic.” Tim disagrees saying that when Jesus heals you he takes it away from you. Your Higher Power is with you always through all that life throws your way.
